Publicity
- We have a publicity photo of the Menlo Brass for the Oct.27 concert.
Committee will duplicate it and send it along the press package - Lorie,
Carolyn, and Joanne are rolling!

- Nancy will have Herb post on the chapter website a "this is what works"
procedure for press releases.

- Committee will now e-mail Herb (webmaster) each new press release for
posting on the chapter website.

General Business
- Discussion - blind submissions - enforces objective programming process.
However there are other parameters including the nessecity to program
larger number of local composers in order to bring in a large audience,
therefore names would be needed. Action on this possibility was tabled
pending further discussion.

- Issue - Our concerts, more and more, have been trending towards programs
of many short pieces. There is a feeling that our concerts are starting to
rememble talent shows. Longer pieces, with all that they have to offer,
are disappearing from our programs. In order to maintain a balance between
the largest audience possible (thus more composers per program) and longer,
substantial pieces, the programming committee is encouraged to program one
high quality longer piece (10-20 minutes) per concert, when available,
along with shorter pieces. Score calls will now encourage the submission
for longer pieces.

- Oct. 27 Concert personel
- door: Anne Balwin (who will also bring change), Carolyn Hawley
- welcome speech - Nancy Bloomer Deussen
- stage - Herb Gellis
- hospitality chair - Nancy Bloomer Deussen
- Each composer should be ready to preface the performance of their piece
with a spoken introduction.

Message to the Chapter:

The success of the chapter depends upon the participation of all its
members, who contribute their time and energy to the organization in
practical activities such as:
1. Fundraising
2. Programming
3. Concert Production
Come to a meeting a get envolved! Everyone is encouraged to help out.

We know that some members live too far away to be helpful with practical
activities, and we appreciate that some of you have been helpful
financially with contributions to defray our production costs.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectully submitted,
Owen Lee, President
