Meeting Minutes
Friday, May 17, 2002,
730pm at the Home of Art Bodin.
Present: Herb Gellis, Owen Lee, I’lana Cotton, John Beeman, Joanne
Carey, Dale Victorine, Steve Ettinger, Bob Hall, Lorie Griswold, Nancy
Bloomer Deussen, Sondra Clark, Art Bodin, Carolyn Hawley
We voted to have a String quartet from the San Jose Symphony be our
guest group this Fall. We will also ask Pacific Sticks [percussion
quartet] to be our guest group in the Fall of 2003. As preparation
for the Pacific Sticks collaboration, we will ask Ken Crawford of
Pacific Sticks to give a talk on writing for percussion this Fall.
Each attendee would contribute nominally to a fee for Ken. John
Beeman will ask the string quartet’s preference of a score call
deadline, preference of a performance date (given our general range of
late October-early November), and whether or not additional performers
(at composers’ expense) would be welcome.
A radio station in Siberia has ask Herb Gellis for a CD of “your”
music. Herb will find out whether “your” means
NACUSAsf, HP Symphony or just Herb.
Nancy Bloomer Deussen, our Silicon Valley Arts Coalition
representative states that all our program state that “NACUSA is
member of the Silicon Valley Arts Coalition [logo].” Herb will
represent NACUSA at the June 8 Silicon Valley Arts Coalition meeting.
Herb will investigate the cost of a website with our “own” URL
