M E E T I N G M I N U T E S - NACUSAsf – February 8, 2002
/bigger>Present – Owen Lee, Sondra Clark, Nancy Bloomer Deussen, John Beeman, Lorie Griswold, I’lana Cotton, Joanne Carey, Anne Baldwin, Herb Gellis, Carolyn Hawley, Daniel Leo Simpson
/bigger>REPORTS –
/bigger>Publicity – Lorie reports that the press release for Composers Can Play, Too…(March 2, 2002) has been released.
/bigger>Treasurer – I’lana reports ca. $2000 in our account. We are doing well compared to past seasons.
/bigger>Santa Clara Valley Arts Commission Representative – NACUSAsf was represented at their last meeting a couple of weeks ago by Nancy, who reports that SVARTS is a valuable informational resource as well as lobbying organization for local small arts groups such as ourselves. They have recently been lobbying the San Jose Mercury for better press coverage of us “minor” performing groups. They organize informal performances now and then. We can participate by sending our own members to perform. We are the only composers’ organization.
/bigger>BUSINESS -
/bigger>Idea: A Traveling C.P.E. – an outreach branch of C.P.E. who perform at local schools, SVARTS events, etc. For now, performers will be uncompensated composers members of C.P.E. performing their own works. Nancy will alert the chapter of performing opportunities sponsored by SVARTS.
/bigger>YahooGroups discussions have become rather intense. Wonderful! Dialogue is what NACUSAsf is about! However, some members object to getting barrages of NACUSAsf e-mail everyday. Webmaster Herb Gellis will send out details of NACUSAsf ‘Nettiquette’ and options for members who do not want to be barraged with our discussions. Official NACUSA business should always carry the heading “OFFICIAL NACUSAsf BUSINESS.” We will try this first.
